Can I Get a Student Loan?

Vision College is a registered PTE (Private Training Establishment) and all our qualifications are eligible for student allowances and interest free student loans, subject to StudyLink’s criteria. 

Short courses (such as workshops) are not eligible for student loans.  If you are doing a paper for “audit” (that is, not enrolled as a student but just testing it out), you are not eligible for a student loan.

Important to Remember: “ATC New Zealand”

When applying to StudyLink for a student loan or allowance it is important to remember that Vision College is part of ATC New Zealand. So when filling in the forms and selecting the provider you are studying with, you will need to choose “ATC New Zealand”.

How Much Will I Receive on the Student Allowance?

The amount you receive will vary depending on your circumstances, which may include your age, your parents’ income, whether or not you’re living at home, etc. Visit the StudyLink website to learn if you are eligible and how much you’re likely to receive.

Quick tip:  If you’re wanting to get a rough idea of how much you might receive from Student Allowance, don’t click on the “What you can get” link on the StudyLink website. That link shows you what kinds of assistance you are eligible for, but doesn’t say how much you will receive.  Instead try these links:

What is the Process of Applying for a Student Loan or Allowance?

The first step is to make sure you have sent your application to Vision College. Once this is done, even before you hear back from us, you can apply to StudyLink for a student loan (if you plan to pay your fees or course related costs by loan) and student allowance.

StudyLink contact us to check you are enrolled and then once your course starts StudyLink pay the tuition fees directly to us.

If you don’t want to pay for your fees by interest free student loan you will need to pay the course fees for the year in full before the course starts.
