Diploma in Performance Music

Turn your passion into a profession

Music careers don’t just happen. You need to be talented, trained and industry savvy if you’re going to build a successful career. This course aims to produce professional musicians capable of leading and inspiring others.

Be trained to understand the dynamics of performing live and in the studio. During the course you will perform many times in the public arena, including going on a short tour. You will mix with other outstanding musicians and learn how to adjust to different crowds and performance environments.

You will also study the business side of the music industry to learn the wide range of options for building a solid living from this dynamic and multifaceted industry.

You can choose to major in vocals or any rock instrument and throughout your two years of study you will receive advanced one-on-one tuition in your chosen major from expert tutors. Expect to become an exceptionally good musician that stands out from the crowd.

Our purpose-built music facility, known as The Shed, is in the heart of Christchurch and includes its own auditorium, practice rooms, classrooms, student lounge and full Pro Tools recording studio. Student computers equipped with Pro Tools and extensive music software.
