Diploma in Performance Music

Two Years of Advanced Musical Training

The Diploma in Performance Music is the first two years of the Bachelor of Music (CCM).  (This Diploma was previously known as the Diploma Licentiate).

In the first year students complete the Diploma of Contemporary Music.  This second year of the programme allows students to further develop in their chosen stream (either vocals an instrument or song writing) and to specialise in Music Education, Business Studies or Music Production. By this stage students are developing a high level of skill in their stream, with continued one-on-one tuition.

Students will study stimulating music subjects that require critical thinking, verbal and written communication as well as showcasing their talent, developing confidence and professionalism.

Study the Type of Music You Love

Just like the Bachelor you can study the type of music you love - Rock, Pop, R&B, Jazz … even Classical if you like.

In Hamilton the course is based in a dynamic Christian atmosphere, with a focus on the special context of modern Christian music, including worship music. You will complete one theology paper each year and enjoy weekly student worship times together with other Vision College students, helping you to grow in your faith while taking your musical skills to an advanced level.

At the Christchurch campus students have the choice of the Christian worship stream (which mirrors the Hamilton option described above) or the Mainstream Music option which doesn't have any Christian content. You can read more about the mainstream music option here.
