Become confident with reading, writing, speaking and listening to English. By improving your English you’ll be able to speak to Kiwis and increase your future study options.
Vision College offers 3 levels of General English classes, starting from Pre-Intermediate. (There is also an IELTS class available).
You will be tested and then placed at the appropriate level for your ability. You can progress to the next level once your present level has been achieved.
The Certificate in General English will help you learn both conversational and academic English in an enjoyable and interesting way. Grammar points are also thoroughly covered throughout the course.
Classes are free for Permanent Residents (PRs) in most circumstances. Some conditions apply. And students can use English For Migrants fund (EFM) if applicable. Fees are affordable for International students.

A number of interesting topics are used to improve the English language skills of students. In addition, the writing of CVs, reports and formal and informal letters are covered at most levels. Language lab activities are included.

Open to New Zealand Citizens/Permanent Residents and International students whose first language is not English. The minimum age is 16 years (special conditions apply). A placement level indicator test is used to ascertain at which level a student needs to start.
Second language students who attain increased English language skills are better placed to enter the job market than those with lesser English language skills.
Students who complete Intermediate level or above are eligible to pursue a number of other courses at Vision College or at other tertiary institutions, such as at a Polytechnic or University. The exact minimum level of English required for those courses can be obtained upon application.
