How do the Block Courses work for studying counselling?

Year One On-Campus: Full or Part-time

Year One of the Bachelor of Counselling and Diploma of Counselling must be completed on-campus, in either Hamilton or Christchurch.  Full-time students can expect to be on campus up to four days per week.  Part-time students can expect to be on campus up to two days per week.

Year Two and Three: Block Courses and Placement

Year Two and Year Three are placement based in an agency, where you will complete 100 face-to-face hours of counselling each year.  All of our students study Year's Two and Three as full-time students.

The placement can be near where you live, ideally in the area of counselling that you would like to specialise in.  This means you don't have to necessarily live near Hamilton or Christchurch for Years Two and Three of study.

As well as the placement hours, there will be eight on-campus block courses to attend each year.
