Diploma in Accounting

Do you enjoy working with numbers?

This Diploma focuses on Accounting topics including Accounting Principles, Accounting Practices, Management and Financial Accounting, Taxation, Internal Auditing and Business Finance. All papers count towards the Accounting Technician concentration of the New Zealand Diploma in Business, should you wish to pursue a career as an accountant.

Papers

Students must complete six of these papers from the New Zealand Diploma in Business programme.

Core Papers

  • 400 Accounting Principles
  • 501 Accounting Practices
  • 601 Financial Accounting
  • 602 Management Accounting

Elective Papers

  • 603 Business Finance
  • 605 Internal Auditing
  • 606 Taxation

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • a minimum of 14 numeracy credits at level 1 or higher in Mathematics or Pangarau on the Directory of Assessment Standards; and
  • 50 credits at level 2 or above with at least 12 credits in each of three subjects including a minimum of 8 literacy credits at level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Maori; 4 credits must be in reading and 4 credits must be in writing; and
  • the literacy credits will be selected from a schedule of approved achievement standards and unit standards found on the NZQA website at: Literacy Requirements for University Entrance.
  • or equivalent to the above
  • or New Zealand University Entrance.

International students for whom English is not a first language must also have either:

  • an IELTS 6.0 with no band score under 5.5; or
  • two years study at a New Zealand secondary school and either NCEA Level 3 or New Zealand University Entrance or both.

Fees Guidelines

Domestic fees: $4,210 per year / $700 per paper

International fees: Upon enquiry
